Est. Melbourne, Australia — 2003
Movember started with 30 men and a dare. Two decades later, it's the world's largest men's health movement — funding the research, starting the conversations, and changing the outcomes that matter most.
↳ The origin story
It started the way many great things do: with two mates at a Melbourne pub, a dare, and absolutely no idea what they were starting. Travis Garone and Luke Slattery challenged 30 friends to grow a moustache for 30 days to raise awareness for prostate cancer.
The original 30 Mo Bros raised $54,000 AUD. The idea was absurd. The response was overwhelming. And the movement never stopped growing.
Today, Movember is a global health charity operating across 20+ countries. Since 2003, we've raised over $900 million, funded more than 1,250 men's health projects, and built a community of millions of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who refuse to let men die alone in silence.
↳ The numbers that matter
Every dollar funds research, awareness campaigns, and direct health interventions that save lives.
Ground-breaking research into prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Six million people who gave their face — and their voice — to the cause of men's health.
From Melbourne to Mumbai, the mo is global. Men's health has no borders.
In some countries, early detection rates have improved dramatically — in part thanks to Movember-funded research.
Movember-funded initiatives have directly touched the lives of millions of men struggling in silence.
↳ The journey
30 men, one Melbourne pub, a bet about moustaches. $54,000 AUD raised. A movement unknowingly born.
The mo crossed borders. New Zealand, Canada, and the US join. 50,000 Mo Bros participate worldwide.
Movember expands beyond cancer to tackle the invisible crisis: men's mental health and suicide prevention.
Half a billion dollars raised in a decade. What started as a bet became the world's largest men's health charity.
Because not everyone can grow a mo. The move challenge opens Movember to everyone — and drives 60km for 60 lives lost to suicide per hour.
Two decades of moustaches, conversations, and change. The mission is the same. The stakes have never been higher.
↳ Where the money goes
Every dollar raised goes directly into research and programmes across the four areas that matter most to men's health outcomes.
Funding programmes that help men develop the skills to be mentally well — and access help when they're not.
Investing in research that improves early detection, treatment options, and quality of life for men and their families.
The most common cancer in young men. We're funding research that aims to stop it taking young lives.
75% of suicides are male. We're funding the conversations, training and research that change that statistic.
↳ Worldwide
Men's health doesn't respect borders. Neither does Movember.

"Men are dying too young. Not because they're weak. Because the world told them to be strong, silent, and stoic — and they listened. We're here to change that conversation. One moustache at a time."
